The Christian Jewish Council of Greater Charleston (CJC) sponsored a scholar in residence program with Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University's Divinity School (Nashville, TN). Dr. Levine gave a major lecture: “How Jews and Christians Read Scripture Differently" on the evening of October 29 2015, attracting about 330 participants. The lecture and a reception following her presentation was held at KKBE. The CJC also held two workshops with Dr. Levine, titled: "Misunderstanding Judaism Means Misunderstanding Jesus." Each workshop attracted about 40 participants, many who purchased her new book: The Jewish Annotated New Testament (NRSV). The workshops were held on the mornings of October 29 and 30, 2015 at the Holy Communion Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, SC.
