The YWCA of Greater Charleston is hosting its annual MLK Celebrations again this year. Please join us for its MLK Ecumenical Service on January 16 at 4pm virtually or in-person at Greater St. Luke AME Church at 78 Gordon Street, Charleston, SC 29413. More information and Registration can be found at https://www.ywcagc.org/ecumenical-2022.html.
The inaugural MLK Celebration was one of the first national tributes of its kind. First held on January 15, 1972, this regional event has grown to traditionally encompass 10 days each January and is the largest MLK celebration in South Carolina. This year, because of COVID-19, the event will again be largely virtual.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Celebration, this year YWCA Greater Charleston is combining its MLK Area Worship Services with its signature MLK Ecumenical Service for one dynamic, impactful service encompassing and recognizing houses of worship from every region of the Lowcountry.
The centerpiece of the Celebration, the MLK Ecumenical Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, as a hybrid virtual and in-person event live-cast from Greater St. Luke AME Church at 78 Gordon Street, Charleston, SC 29413. Reverend Dr. Krystal T. Sears of Greater St. Luke AME Church will preside over the service.
