Eating Jewishly and Islamically in an Age of Uncertainty

In 2022 eating Jewishly and Islamically is more than just a matter of keeping Kosher or Halal, and more than just a festive meal at Passover or Eid.

Issues like the environmental and ethical issues of factory farming, food insecurity, and climate justice, and newer food developments such as veganism and sustainable agriculture, present new challenges for Muslim and Jewish clergy.

Featuring a conversation between Imam Abdel Majid of the Central Mosque of Charleston, Rabbi Evan Ravski of Synagogue Emanu-el, moderated by Elijah Siegler of College of Charleston’s Religious Studies Department.

Following the moderated discussion, attendees will form interreligious breakout groups as well as enjoy a sampling of traditional recipes from Jewish and Muslim cultures.

Admission is free and all are welcome!
